The Beach

Easton's Beach has been a public recreation area for many, many years. The site has experienced a considerable amount of development throughout its history and has also experienced great loss of buildings over the last two centuries.

Below are the four concept plan sketches developed through the 3-day interactive public workshop process. You can provide feedback on the concept plans using the resources below.

    Competition to Showcase Best of the Beach

    NEWPORT, R.I. (MONDAY, JULY 28, 2025) -- Easton’s Beach is proud to announce the return of the Newport Invitational Lifeguard Tournament on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, marking the event’s comeback after a seven-year hiatus.

    This full-day competition will showcase the skill, speed, and strength of some of the region’s top ocean rescue teams. Lifeguards from the following beach patrols will compete in a series of ocean-based events:

    • Connecticut State Park Lifeguards
    • Easton’s Beach Surf Patrol
    • Jones Beach Surf Racing
    • Long Beach Township Beach Patrol
    • Narragansett Beach Surf Rescue
    • Nauset Beach Ocean Rescue
    • Sachuest Beach Surf Rescue
    • Westerly Town Beach Surf Rescue

    Events will kick off at 10:00 AM and continue throughout the day, concluding around 6:00 PM. The competition will include races and rescue simulations designed to highlight the athleticism and teamwork required for elite lifeguard service.

    The public is welcome to attend and parking is free at Easton’s Beach for Newport residents.
