Yes, it is true, 99 Ave has always been planned to be a freeway . The current 99 Ave roadways are actually frontage roads to a future freeway that will be built between them. DOT plans to begin construction on the freeway in 2025. You can view an interactive map of the plan.

Both ends of the Granicus trail are currently closed and inaccessible. Timing is not on our side currently, but once the dust settles we will have everything back up and running smoothly with an even better trail system.

The East side, where the trailhead is, has been closed due to a new irrigation reservoir that the city is building. We are currently constructing a reroute around the project to provide access to the Trail. I anticipate this will be completed and accessible by May. When the reservoir is completed by the end of the year, we will also have an expanded parking area at this trailhead.

The West side was originally constructed on private property, with an agreement that it would need to be rerouted at a future date when they decided to develop their land. This happened sooner than anticipated and because of the extent of their project along that whole lower mountain face, we do not have a good location to reroute the trail until they have completed most of their backbone infrastructure work. I do not have a timeline for rerouting the end of this trail.

There is a trailhead parking lot currently under construction. We anticipate this will be completed by the end of May, with future improvements such as a restroom and landscaping to come at a later undetermined date. This will provide access to the approximate midpoint of the trail. We are also constructing three additional trails, two of which will connect to this trailhead.
